I would say with no reservation that the .30 calibers are my favorite! I'll also say that day in and day out the .30/30 AI is probably my most favorite of the .30 caliber cartridges. I use the .30/30 AI for informal target shooting and deer hunting. I have several different cartridges that I like and load for so it's really hard to choose what I take to the range on a given day.
It's better to shoot for the moon and hit the fencepost than to shoot for the fencepost and hit the ground!

    6mm/243.
I prefer the 6mm rem or 6mm ARC.
For everything deer size down to gophers.

The one I’m shooting at any given time. I’ve always been a quarter bore fan. Deer hunting I went with a 257ai and a 357 max this year. Then again I’ve moved to mostly mild mannered calibers for bench shooting. TCU’s and 225 brass based JDJ’s. I’m planning on a 256 super max and a 30 Reece.

I’m not sure I have an overall favorite caliber. I wish I did. 7mm maybe? I wouldn’t mind delving a bit more into the 6mm’s. I’ve really leaned to 3 particular chamberings over the years, in a number of different platforms, those being 243, 7/08 and especially 30/30 AI.

The smaller the better for me these days, at least around here. I was talking to my BIL a couple days ago at the farm about all the lead we put in the air 50 plus years ago on the place. He bought one of the first 10" Herrett barrels to hit the street around here. He shot every weekend at the gravel pit match's on this side of the state. Its all gone, urban sprawl has gobbled everything up. New younger folks out in the country will call in gun shots from a mile away. I told him shooting is a circle. You get old enough to get a BB gun, then a pellet gun, the a 22 rimfire, continuing to the top of the circle with the belted mags. Then to continue down the back of the circle heading for a BB gun. He agreed. My latest is a Charger clone with a Firefly bolt shooting CCI Quiets. I've got 14 months wait time on my Dead air Mask so it should be any day now I hope. If they can't hear it they can't get excited and call the sheriff.

He did smoke a coyote at the beginning of this week @ 200 with his 223 as it was slowly walking across his hay field. One shot band flop.

Its too difficult of a question lol.

IF i could ONLY have 2 contender barrels, they would be 6x47 and 30-30AI. There are lots of good cartridges and it depends on what job you need to get done.

my favorite cartridge used to be a 30-30 (i killed alot of deer with it), now my favorite cartridge and rifle is a Winchester m94 in 35/30-30. i use a 200gr RCBS FN GC and 2400/tuft of dacron tat goes 1726fps.

my second favorite is a Husqvarna m46 in 9.3x57 with a 275gr WFN GC and IMR4895 that goes approx. 1700-1800fps (still have to use my chronogragh).

this year, my dad (RIP) always want a 30 Herrett in his Contender. so i bought a 10" barrel in 30 and 357 Herrett (bought them both cheaply) and i have a 2-6x Swift (old but good) handgun scope. it was a little bit dificult, but i got to set the reloading die to the shoulder of the case. i have about 100 cartridges loaded up with a 130gr Speer HP with Reloder 7.

In the Contender have used the 35 Remington more than others for deer hunting, in a revolver caliber the 41 magnum in the Contender usually is used, for longer shots a 7mm-08 in various SP's.

My SP's are Contenders so I'm limited to lower pressure rounds and l can't narrow it down to just one.

For deer hunting it the 7-30 Waters.

For varmints and target shooting it has been the 6mmTCU but as of lately I'm starting to favor a JD. Jones Experimental 6mm PPC barrel.

My wishlist has been a 16 plus inch Rem XP in 6mm-284. I'm kind of parcel to the 6mm's.

I'll add a tad of activity, Gadget.
As I get older, I stick mostly to bench shooting and do my hunting at HEB, so I'm migrating to smaller calibers. .223 and .22LR are the bulk of my shooting since the nearby range doesn't allow handloads. Besides those 2, I shoot all the TCU's, .17Rem, 7BR, 30Herret, .30 Mauser, and several other cartridges in my Contenders, Encores, XP100s, Striker, etc. If I were to have to only have 2 or 3 calibers, I expect they would be .22LR, .223, and 300 Whisper (Blackout).

I can't say that I have a favorite cal. really depends on what I am doing and the location/ range/ distance. And sometimes what I have loaded on hand. That said in Tc 22rf on small end up to 44 mag and 35Rem on the big side with a bunch of barrels in between. in the xp100 7mmbr , 7mmx284 + one more i can't remember cal., in strikers 22lr,223,243,308. the 7mmx30 waters in the tc is fun.
