I’ve been looking at this combo myself for my daughters. In 243.
The compacts have a shorter barrel also.
I just got a Savage Axis XP Compact for my daughter for xmas. I am curious now, if I can buy a regular full-sized stock that fits an axis, and replace the compact stock as she gets older? Also, when ordering an aftermarket trigger for this gun, will it be a trigger that fits a regular Axis? Thank you for any help.

Unless Savage did something unusual all of the Axis line uses the same action. The only difference is the magazine well for long and short action cartridges. So you'd just need a stock for a 'short action' Axis.
The trigger is also replaceable. Just make sure it is for an Axis and not a 110. The stock Accutrigger is pretty good, even if it doesn't adjust below 2lb.
I bought a Compact a few years in 243 to hunt Javelina and Varmints because I wanted something lightweight. The only upgrade I did was a Rifle Basix trigger.
couldn't guarantee it, but knowing savage with there economic plug and play program the stock was the only thing changed.

We ended up buying an axis youth 243 in camo for our girls. Nice Xmas gift. I’m hoping momma starts using it next year also. My oldest daughter agreed to get her PAL (Canadian gun license) if we bring a new 243 home.
My grandson has a youth 7mm-08 Axis and I just installed a regular full stock on it, worked great.
