    Scope Base Confusion

I have a 110 Timberline on order in 280 AI, and was looking at scope bases, but am a bit confused as to which base will fit this rifle. I was hoping to order the base while the rifle is on its way, but there seem to have been so many variations (6 vs 8 machine screws, 110 vs 110 long actions) coupled with lack of specs on the factory website that I'm not sure what is fish and what is fowl where this rifle is concerned. Can someone tell me what mount will fir this rifle? Looking at a picatinny mount preferably one piece. Thanks for your input!

EDIT: I fat fingered one instance of 110 above as 119. That's now been corrected.

There are only TWO screw sizes, 6-48 & 8-40. I believe all NEW Savage Actions use 8-40, but don’t quote me. This is a helpful hint. If you have a set of screws that fit, measure them with a pair of calipers. #6-48 screws will measure approximately 0.138”. #8-40 screws will measure approximately 0.164”.

Also, there is no such thing as a 119 Action. In the past they were 110 for LONG Action, & 10 for SHORT Action. The other models, 11/111, 12/112, 14/114, & 16/116 were simply the SAME 10/110 Actions with various barrel, stock, etc., features.

So I do believe you have 8-40 screws, but I would check. Always check YOUR rifle first.

Thanks for the info! 119 above was a fat finger mistake, I meant 110 instead. I will edit so as not to add to tne confusion of others.

The rifle is still in transit, so was hoping I could order the base in the mean time, as I already have the scope and need to measure the height for rings. Guess I just need to be patient and wait until it arrives.

Well, you need a LONG Action rail, and as I said, I’m almost positive the rifle is 8-40 screws. But I like making absolute positive before ordering things. That way I know I always have the correct part.
