    Savage short action caliber swap


    I'm looking to swap my model 10 .308 to .223.

    Besides the barrel and bolt head, does anything else need to be changed?

    Is the baffle spring reused or is there a special one for the .223 bolt head?

    A mag and a 223 bolt baffle to shorten The stroke is a nice to have.

    It's a blind magazine. Will that one work, or do I need to replace that also?

    If you plan on going single feed just get a sled from Fred, if you want to load the internal mag, you may need to swap out the internal mag parts for smooth operation.

    If it’s a center feed believe you can find a .223 mag insert. If however it is a stagger feed then finding the correct insert may be very difficult to find.
