    Savage Super Sporter Accuracy

I have been thinking about buying a Savage Super Sporter in 30-06. Before I spend the money I wanted to ask around about the accuracy of the rifle as well as any history of problems.

Are they as light as they look in pictures?

Ditto, never heard of a Savage model called the "Super Sporter". Could you be more specific? Where did you see it? Inquiring minds want to know!

I have one of those in 30-06, it was my first rifle. My dad bought it at a gunshow, the barrel was shot out so he replaced it with an old military barrel.

If we only knew then, what we know now about the collectability, I would have never sold in 1972 my 1969 Nova SS 396/375HP. Would be a pretty nice "money for guns" bank account.

I still have the 1948 Studebaker Commander Land Crusier that saw duty during my high school and college years. Still runs and has been shedded all these years. Last drove it in home town centennial celebration in 1981. Had many stop in wanting too buy if I would name my price. When I did they would comment "Oh, you know what its worth".

    Re: Savage Super Sporter Accuracy

I don't think anyone has answered the question of accuracy. I had one of these w/ a heavier barrel than most had in 30-06. Great gun. Shot about a 1.5" group at 100 yds with a side mounted cheap 4x scope. Decided I wanted something different so let it go to one of the collectors out here. There is a guy here in Dallas that has an entire table of these guns. They only made em for a few years starting before ww2 and ending of course w/ the onset of war. If it is priced right and comes with the clip (hard to find), get it.
