    Stock fitment question for 12fv

Will this stock fit my savage 12fv with bull barrel?

I believe I have the 4.27 spacing short action top bolt release blond magazine.

It should. My experience is based on a Hogue that was purchased several years ago.
Just be sure you get the one with the aluminum stiffener.
There used to be two models, one with and one without the stiffener.
It is important if you have a 6.5mm CM or .308 12 FV, otherwise the stock might flex like the original 12 FV factory stock.

It will work. That is the “Pillar Bed” Hogue. CFJunkie is speaking of this one.(and I concur) https://www.hogueinc.com/stocks/sava...ed-block-stock

The full length block is like having a mini Chassis in the more Sporter* style which more hunters gravitate towards.

    “72”, these guys are slipping.

If Your action is really a 12 FV, Your bolt spacing is 4.40”, not 4.27”, which is the old stagger feed action.

Some replacement stocks have a block for the front screw which facilitate both dimensions. If You get a stock for Stagger Feed only, it won’t work for Your 12 FV. Your’s is 4.40”, Center Feed.

Just trying to be helpful, hope I am right ??

    OP,
The 12FV comes factory with a heavy contour barrel (Not Bull) unless you swapped it. I don't know were you got the 4.27 number from(maybe a typo) but it is 4.40 center feed.
This hogue stock should work with your 12FV.
Grenguy ,you are correct about spacing .

Just a FYI - be careful if you decide to deal with Opticsplanet.

They also sell by other names online.

Yes GrenGuy, thank you. CFJunkie & myself are aware of this. But no reason to hit a new guy over the head. He will learn these things. The point was answering his question about the stock. YES, it will fit because this stock is adaptable for for the standard 4.40” OR the 4.275” 2nd Gen SA (1998-2007).

I’ve been using them for many, many years without a single problem. Of course a problem could occur. But that’s a risk regardless.

Thanks for all the help everyone. The receipt for the gun says savage 12fv from gander mountain 2006. I measured from the middle of the screw in front of the trigger guard to the next one on the other side of where the blind magazine is and it came to just over 4 1/4 inches. I can see the rounds stagger as I feed them in. This is why I was thinking what I was. I was calling it a bull barrel because it was very thick. It also has the bolt release on the top right side. I was also looking here https://www.savageshooters.com/conte...Action-Lengths. I could be wrong and guess I’ll find out soon as the choate tacticle stock I ordered arrives. Wish I had checked back before I made the decision.

Just took the stock off and the magazine is attached to the action. I thought I read somewhere that meant a staggered feed? Is that right?
