Thumbs Up Got the 99 K scoped !

The Lightfoot mount arrived (perfect as usual for him !).

Dug out some Leupold 7/8" gloss rings and a Lyman Alaskan with a Litscherts Varmint Master power booster.

Smaller tube, longer scope looks much better on any 99.

Will get some pics up soon.

Oh yeah!! That's a nice looking rifle, and the scope mount is rather sleek!! He does a nice job. Rifles aren't built like that anymore!!

Nope, nor is it with a Stith Mount.

Really nice looking rifle 99 K 30-30!!! In fact down right purdy'!!!!!! Saw a K with similar wood a few years ago at an auction a really really big local collector was having to 'thin the herd'. In fact there were around five really nice 99's up for auction plus about every make, model, caliber of firearm from a-z. Hung around a while, but auctioneer was selling all the other firearms related shooting and hunting items the seller was selling first, plus other sellers had items for sale. Firearms were to be last, I had previous important commitment to go to so wasn't around for any gun sales. Friend advised the K went for around $1500 if I recall right. Other 99's sold for $1000 plus/minus. This is before the Covid 'crap' caused a mass increase in 99 prices. The 99K was almost NIB condition. I have a Lightfoot mount on a pre-war 99R that I really like, top shelf mount. Have a Stith on a late 20's 99G, IMO I rate the Lightfoot right along with the Stith.

A few years ago people had not caught on to 99s.
On the other hand, fine single shots like Pope's are selling for 50% of what they did "a few years ago".

Took the K to the range with 1976 Winchester premium ammo.

5 shot group was 1/2" high and 5" wide. The takedown curse strikes !

Time for cast bullets, mild loads and not shooting off bags !

Ending my 50 year love affair with 1895/1899/99s.
This one already sold, others to follow.

That is a pretty K. Mine is scoped too. How ever you want to look at it. Mine was scoped when new, in 1928 with a 1928 Noske scope, and a side mount, that covers most of the engraving. But, I like it, and I only paid about 1/10 of what an unmolested one would cost. The way the scope is cantilevered over the barrel, it's just high enough that you can use the tang sight if the scope fogs or fails.
