    Suggestions for 22 WMR

At what range would you zero this gun? I am completely new to playing with this caliber. I got it set to shoot 1 1/4 high at this distance.

You’re not far off, and you may choose to keep that zero. A 40 GR bullet from a rifle barrel drops about 2 inches at 100 yards. I sight in 1 inch high at 100 yards, but figure it’s only good out to 125. Drop is 8 or 9 inches at 150 yards, and the bullet is starting to lose energy rapidly. 22 mag is a fine choice for varmints that are bigger than bunnies & squirrels but smaller than coyotes. Some of these offer mighty small head shot targets, so center of mass is a better choice starting around 60 yards.

It's really a shame the ammo is so expensive. I hadn't shot the rifle in years but I had an extra scope for it and 3 boxes of ammo I bought years ago so I gave it a try yesterday. It is fun to shoot and I think it is pretty accurate for a 22. Makes no sense I can reload the 223s for considerably less if I am not particular about bullet quality and almost the same or a few pennies more if I use premium bullets.

Thanks for the info on zeroing. I think I will just leave it where it is now. Plenty good enough for out to 125 yards I guess

    Question?
Would you shoot a grouse on the ground?
    Another question?
Could you hit one if it wasent on the ground? lol
    Especially in wooded areas?
I can tell you that on rainy days they like being on the dirt mountain roads.
And i can also tell you that body shots are far more likely to be successfull than head shots with 22 mags.
Yes, a 50 yard zero is about right.
Fact is i had the parrelex in my scope set for that distance.

This is a great explanation of zeroing theory:

It depends upon your use. For me I limit my 22 magnum shots to 100 yards or less. I generally zero it dead on at 100 yards.
