On Florida Gun Trader there is a Savage 99 in 250 savage listed.

There are some scams on this page this past few months, usually a new member date is a sign to look for. But otherwise there are alot of older guns in Florida due to retirees moving to Florida and selling their hunting rifles.

Have you tried searching on ProxiBid? They charge hefty fees, so it won’t be cheap. But they capture a lot of the smaller local Good Ol’ Boy auctions. In many cases there will be live bidders with an advantage over internet bidders, so you’ll have to want it badly.

The hunt is part of the fun!! I go to Wisconsin in the summer and search every small town gun shop I can find!! Found one of my grail guns up there, a very nice 1899 take down in .38-55 for $400!! The shop owner said he can't sell guns if Walmart dosen't sell ammo for it!! Good for me!!

Good advice from Big Al1. You might add pawn shops to your list also, but I’ve never seen a good deal at a pawn shop.

You don’t say what state you’re in. If private sales are legal, you might start haunting the estate and garage sales. Here in AZ, I’ve seen some nice firearms at these venues. When searching for a unicorn, you have to kiss a lot of frogs.

I hope you realize that the Savage 22 HP uses a non-standard, .228” dia. bullet.

Even if you are a handloader, finding .228” bullets are near impossible.
