    Mag well conversion

The 110C that I just bought has a removable magazine that detaches with the push of a button on the side of the rifle. Because of this feature there are not many stock options. Is there a way to convert it to a hidden magazine or one of the magazines that empty from the bottom floor plate. I did find a basic Ram-Line synthetic stock at Midway USA. The rifle is chambered in .270 right now, but I am going to rebarrel it into something larger and maybe a magnum chambering. If I can do it any direction is appreciated.

from the factory they had a different clip that was open bottom and shallower to install in the same housing then a solid bottom metal floor plate.
and deleted the button through the stock.

You could convert it to a Acme detachable magazine.

Interesting. I wonder if the parts are available to convert it to the drop magazine like show in the page of the book? I'll also look at the Acme. The wood stock that is on it is pretty beat up and it needs a new one. I am looking to go with a sythetic that will free float the barrel. If there are any ither ideas, let them fly. Thanks!

You could convert it to a blind magazine by simply buying the appropriate magazine box. You can get them from Midway, but they're out of stock on the magnum box at the moment.

Is SSS making these for long actions yet?

As of yet, SSS are not making them for long actions. They told me that they cant find a reliable magazine.

If I convert this to a magnum blind magazine can I still shoot .30-06 derivatives from it? Right now it is chambered in .270 Win, but I want to change to a magnum round or possibly a .375 ruger which is the same length as a .30-06, but a larger diameter case.

The magnum mag box is different from the '06 mag box. Changing the mag is pretty easy though.

I assume that you have a staggered feed since the rifle uses the old style clip. If that's the case, then the metal mag box will be attached to the action when you take it out of the stock. If it is, here is an excellent explanation of how to remove the mag box:

The 375 Ruger feeds perfectly from a magnum mag box and would make an excellent setup.

Did you have the model that had the push button on the side of the stock, the C model? If you did, I am going to follow in your footsteps......

    Re: Mag well conversion

I have converted my 110 into many calibers. It started life as a 30-06. I bought a blind magazine for a 30-06 and did exactly what you describe. It is now a 338 WM and still uses the same mag. You will need a new mag follower as well. If you go to a mag caliber, don't forget you'll need a new bolt head also. You may have to adjust the firing pin protrusion with the new head.

Check Brownells, they may have the parts in stock.

    Re: Mag well conversion

Thanks for the info Handirifle. I was wondering if I would have to change the mag well to go to a magnum chambering and I didn't know if you could put a magnum mag well onto the long action 110. If I remember right the 338 wm is shorter for a magnum round. Right now I am all over the place on what to change the rifle to. It won't stay a .270 since I already have one in a Rem 700. Right now the flavor of the day is 338-06, but I have not made a move yet. First order for me is to make sure I can get the barrel off. I have the barrel wrench on the way. Once I am sure I can get the barrel off, it is decision time. ??? This is fun!!!
