110 Precision 338 LM with MDT LSS XL Chassis - Correct mags question

Hello All,

I have a question on the correct mag for this rifle and I'm hoping someone can confirm the correct length AICS mag for me. I have the 110 Precision with the MDT LSS XL chassis on order in 338 Lapua and should hopefully be able to pick it up next week. I cannot find any reference to the correct mag length for this chassis anywhere as configured from Savage.

The MDT website specifically says the LSS XL only accepts 3.715" AICS but if you go through the selector on their website you can specifically select a Savage 110 Chassis with 3.850 CIP length magazine. Savage only makes 1 magazine for 338 Lapua and it is always out of stock so I'm looking to buy an aftermarket but want to make sure I get the right one. I believe the 110 BA and 110 Long Range Hunter as well as the Elite Precision all use 3.850 CIP length mags in 338 Lapua but I don't know about the standard precision.

Any insight that anyone can offer I would greatly appreciate it!

Well I called Savage today and they were unable to confirm which magazine length that it takes other than it is a "metal" magazine. I guess at this point I'll have to wait until I get it to find out. Hopefully it is the 3.850 CIP length magazine and not the shorter 3.715" magazine as that will limit the capability of the rifle, especially with 300 grain bullets. They did confirm that the 338 lapua mag that they offer in their store will not work with any of the new MDT chassis rifles and the mags need to come from MDT.

I bought a 338lm LRH this year, it has an Accurate Mag labeled 3.850. I'd wager you get the 3.85" also, but its safer to wait.
