A 6-284 would work nice but would really close on magazine length. Any thing based on the 308 Win case should fit easily. All require bolt head change.
I have a Model 10 223 that I would like to convert to a 6.5x284 Norma, is this even possible ? If not what can this short action be converted up to that could have at least a 100 grn. bullet in it. I know I can change the bolt face, I also know that a new magazine will have to be installed, possibly go to the Acme drop magazine in a new sporter thumbhole stock along with a new SS match grade barrel in the decided caliber. Further input from the Savage Gurus is greatly appreciated.

More shooting, less typing.
I have a Mod 10 in a 223 and I got pretty excited about converting it to a 6.5/284 but the guy over at ER Shaw talked me out of it. He said that cartridge is really better on the LA if you plan on ever shooting the 140g. If I remember correctly he said that 100g or 120g would probably be okay in a SA, but nothing bigger. I ended up converting my Mod 10 to a 243 instead and I am very happy, but that 6.5 bug comes back and bites ever so often.
