Hello from Alaska

Hi, I am left handed and just recently won a 116 left handed long action and bolt off of gun broker. I am now planning my build and have settled on the 338 win mag as the chambering of choice. I stumbled upon this forum while researching this build and the direction I planned to take it. It appears that there is a wealth of knowledge here and I’m excited to share in the hobby of the savage arms platform. I live in southeast Alaska and hunt deer and moose. I want to do a build off of a 338 win chambering so that I have the power needed for the game we have up here. Bears are all around so that’s a factor in the 338 win mag.

Welcome to the group. 338 Win Mag is definitely a good choice for yur area. Check Criterion, McGowan and Shilen for a magnum sporter weight barrel, at least 24".
