    Savage Model 23A Part Identification

I inherited this rifle from my father and have no idea what is supposed to mount on this attachment on the left side of the action. Does anyone have any idea what was supposed to mount on this dovetail?

I’m guessing a special receiver sight.

Thanks. I googled that and found a few different peep sight set ups that look pretty similar.

It's a Mossberg No 6 scope mount, often they will have the name "Newton" molded on the rear where it's hidden when mounted, don't know why that name's on a part for a Mossberg???

Thank you Sav22! I had pulled the mount off and saw the Newton and could not find the exact match anywhere.

    -Colt
