Forgot to mention that magazine currently is somehow affixed to the action?
Got an older model long action 223. Was considering changing to a slow twist 243 Win as current barrel is shot due to neglect from previous owner. My existing gun has a stagger feed magazine with a spacer to shorten the length as to accept the 223 round, being it is a long action. What would I need to assure that the 243 win will feed okay? And where can I obtain the required parts? I know that I will need a new bolt head but unsure how to go about ordering the correct magazine and follower, or where to get them?
Would consider just going back with 223 but having no luck finding even a take off 223 barrel, and nobody has a pre-fit in stock.
Thanks
Casey

When I converted my 110 from 308 to 6.8, I was able to get the bolt head from PTG. I’m sure they would have what you’ll need.
Finding a Staggered feed magazine box, follower & spring can be like finding a unicorn. I've got a couple, but won't part with them. They are just too hard to find anymore.
There are articles on this forum that explains how to remove the stagger feed magazine. It will require a wide blade screw driver. The spacer in your current magazine should have tabs on both sides securing it to the mag body. the abs will have to be bent out and Dremeled off. It's a lot of work and you'll still need a long mag follower.

See this FAQ topic about stagger feed mags - https://www.savageshooters.com/conte...Feed-Magazines
Bolt heads, no problem, but mag follower and spring, completely different story.
Would it be possible/better to convert to blind centerfeed? Or AICS?

Consider "single feed" so no mag issues??
Oz never gave nothing to the Tin Man, that he didn't already have.
