So my question are to change to .17 I need to change the bolt head to .223 ? what about the magazine box will I need to change that also? Looking at McGowen for my barrel .what else will I need to make this conversion? I just have not been able to find an axis in .223

Will need a new bolt head and a new magazine that's pretty much it other than the barrel

Let me know if you want to get rid of the 243 barrel. I am in the process of a new build and would like to move to 243. Is it just a sporter barrel you will be swapping?

Yes it’s just the sporter barrel.I’ll keep that in mind and let you know.

You may benefit from the longer front baffle also.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.
