Model 99 help needed in determining model type

Just recently purchased a model 99 in 358 caliper. The barrel is stamped model 99 F , im trying to verify if this is a featherweight model or not. It is not a takedown version, and i believe the barrel is 22" . i've been told from one source its a featherweight by the f behind the 99 and another source tells me its not a featherweight model. Can someone help me get a straight answer here. I'm not familiar with these guns, and dont know who to believe.

The 99f is the feather weight. It was made from 1955-1973, the 358 added in 1957 and discontinued in 1969. It should be marked 99-F on the barrel and Savage Model 99 on the ring. Great find!! The .358's are hard to come by!!

Thanks Big.. Sounds like what your telling me is the gun shop employee doesnt know what hes talking about. He did see the 99f on the barrel and claimed it was not a featherweight model according to a gun manual for pricing he showed me at the gun shop. The gun has an I stamped on the lever boss indicating a 1957 make. thanks again.

Most people in gun shops these days have never even seen a Savage 99, I've gotten some good deals that way!! :)
