    4H/CMP Sporter Project Mark II

This is my first Savage rifle. I coach 4H, and I’m going to use this as a budget friendly build up for use with the 4H kids. After an initial cleaning and lube, I put an old Simmons 3-9x32 scope on it, and headed to the range. It’s zeroed for 25 feet, so my ammo groupings at 25 yards were just for the groupings. Again, this is a 4H rifle set up. They only shoot 25 and 50 feet at the state shoot. The ammo best to worst were
    1.Wolf Match Extra
    2.RWS Target Rifle
    3.CCI Standard Velocity
    4.RWS Subsonic
The Target Rifle barely edged out the CCI. The Wolf, was 10 shots in a dime size hole. I have been here long enough to post pictures.

I think you will be happy with your Mark II-my Boy Scout Council bought 55 Mark I's about 8 years ago-each rifle has had about 40,000 rounds fired thru it, and we are just know starting to have mechanical (bolt) problems. Keep the bolt clean and give the chamber a little extra cleaning and it should give you many years of good service.

Thanks. I’ve shot it once already to get a baseline. At 30 yards, it will shoot a hole smaller than a dime with CCI standard velocity. And an even tighter group with Wolf Match Extra.
