Hello from beautiful British Columbia!

Hello all. Joined the forum to find out some info on a new-to-me (but waaay older than me) savage 99. I have owned a plane jane Savage 110 in .270 win for many years that has been my all-around hunting rifle. I've taken several deer with it, and took it for a moose & an elk hunt with unfortunately no luck. I grew up with a dad that hunted that unfortunately passed away when I was 15. I married a woman whose dad is a hunter and trapper. He taught me trapping and I have recently taken over his trapline. My dad taught me to shoot at a young age and took me along on a few local hunting trips. I joined the local army cadet corps when I was 13 and got heavily into the shooting program with .22's. In 1988 & '89 I competed nationally in the 'largebore' program (.308's, bolt action, open sights out to 1200 yds) and was good enough to make the international team and compete in Bisley, England. Later on I took up reloading to add to my interest in shooting/hunting. Currently load for & shoot: .38spl, .243 win, .270 win, .303 brit and most recently a .300 savage. The Savage 99 needs some love, but I'm keen to take it hunting soon! Always loved the look & feel of the 99's and this one came along at a deal I couldn't refuse! See 'yall around the range!
