    Buying a Model 12 FV?

Have been looking at a Savage Model 12 FV that is new used. I say new used because supposedly it is unfired. Asking price is $450.00 with 100+ rounds of factory ammo and a soft side case. No scope. Is that a fair price or would I be over paying at that price? From what I have been lead to believe is that this is a Cabela's only model and online they are now listed @$420.00 but out of stock everywhere with no indication of when they will be restocked. Should I buy or wait?

I would say that is a "fair" price given that you're getting the extra 100 rounds basically for $30. You could wait, as sometimes they go on sale, but then you'd have the rifle, but probably not any ammo for it for a awhile.

Is it in the caliber that you want though is the biggest question?

Yes it is a caliber I am looking for which is why the interest. This would be a second Savage as I have an Axis in the same caliber and already reloading for it. There is also the soft case with it for whatever that is worth.

If it was me, I'd pull the trigger... Pun intended. Especially if you are a reloader. Its a much better platform to build from than the axis and is also a better rifle all around IMO.

    I second this.

Yep, basically new price. If the ammo is good stuff I would factor it into the price. If it is bulk type, such as American .223, then it's not worth much.

The part to be considered these days is that the rifle is available now and there is ammo for it. Nothing like buying a rifle and not being able to get ammo or reloading supplies for it.

The 12FV's have had a good reputation in here.

Thanks Folks, I have been shooting the Axis and it is still much more accurate than I am but with what I have experienced with it so far has me sold on the brand.

The $30 increase in price may be the tax the guy paid for it.
