model 99 returned after 47 years

This gun was stolen from my parents house 47 years ago and miraculously made its way home in November. Any help with decoding its manufacturing date or specific model number would be greatly appreciated. I think my Grandpa bought it brand new. My father passed in 1997 but hopefully he is smiling knowing it finally made it back home. Here is a link for the pics.

Nice looking rifle. To get that back after 47 years is remarkable. Thank you for sharing the story and pictures.

It appears to me it was made in 1953 if I am reading the serial number right.

Nice one. I inherited my grandpas model 99 308. It took some smoke damage from a fire and he hired some savage Gun Jones to clean it up. Reblued and refinished. Travesty! I gave it to my son. Smooth and an excellent shooter.
