Converting Savage Target 6mm BR to 0.222 Remington

I am converting a 6mmBR benchrest rifle to 0.222 Remington. Will order new large shank barrel, then change the bolt face to a 0.223 version and .223 bolt short action bolt baffle. This is all I believe I need to do. Any thing I am missing?? I know I need 0.222 gauges as well for headspace adjustment

You probably will want to reset your firing pin protrusion. .040" +or - .005"
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.

Thanks, I have it set for 0.045 already on the 6mmbr. Helped a lot on primer craters.

You are ready to go then. Your primer cratering was probably not the cause of too much firing pin protrusion. It was may have been over sized brass or the headspace setting too long. or maybe a bad profile on the pin.coil spring
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.
