    Savage 16fss action screws

In 2003 I bought a pre accutrigger/accustock model 16 fss in 300 wsm that I ended up putting a laminate 16 bss stock. I had to replace the action screws since they're different sizes between the stocks. I have lost the original screws and the bss front action screw is too short for the synthetic stock. Anyone know where I can get the correct screws for the original stock? Or a part number or the correct length? I have tried calling Savage but the phone just rings.

    TIA

ACE Hardware. You'll probably have to do some cutting to get them to fit correctly but they're made of a better steel than the soft factory ones. IIRC they're 1/4X20".

I buy the long Savage rear action screws from Midway, and cut them to length. Yes, the stainless ones are soft, but the blued variety are as hard as ever needed. In 2 decades of use, I’ve never stripped a blue one out. Nor a stainless one for that matter, but the stainless are softer.

Easy mistake to make. I once ordered a box of front and rear length "action" screws from Mcmaster-Carr....In 1/4-20. So I made another order order ....in 1/4-28.

Spoke to a Savage rep today and they're sending out what I need on Monday. Free of charge. I bought this rifle in 2003 and they're still willing to take care of me. The screws are a small item but their customer service is huge.
