    Savage 110E Sticking Bolt

Hi i have what i think is a late 70s Savage 110E. Bolt seems loose in the action, when i draw it back seems like it hangs up on everything. I want to take it to a gunsmith.

is there something i check to rule out a simple problem?

I would clean and lightly lube the bolt and bolt rails and see if that helps.

    Thanks Jack
    cleaning bolt now—super dirty.
bolt is also very loose causing it to get crossways on the way out.
anyone replace their bolts with the PTG bolt bodies available thru Midway USA?

There are some things to make it operate smoother and they are in previous posts if you do a search.
Many people have used the PTG bolt bodies.
From experience: Do not use a fluted bolt body from PTG
You can spec your OD if you buy direct. Make sure you have the ability to measure the raceway bore so you don't purchase one that is too large or too small
Be prepared for the cocking ramp to alter the way the bolt close feels as the timing could be slightly different. (Never file the edges of the bolt head trying to improve a mistimed cocking ramp. It is not the problem)
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.

I cleaned entire action really well. found the right side of the action is worn and had some rough spots. It is part #50 and is likely not a replaceable component. there is a left and right side rail in the action—the right side is slightly worn And had a couple of burrs.

Wish I could post a pic.

anyway the bolt is dragging on the follower and the worn rail seems to contribute to the bolt sloppiness.
I bought some snap caps to simulate live cycling.

Improved the cycling but occasionally bolt still hangs up
