    Super Sporter Model 40

I just picked up a Super Sporter Model 40 in 30-06. I greatly appreciate all of the information I’ve picked up on this forum, especially the advice to verify the head space and avoid full power loads.

Mine has the schnabel stock with the side release button. I’ve seen varying opinions on whether this is the earlier or later stock. Can anyone say for sure?

It has the Weaver #11 scope mount bases and a refinished stock. Even so, I think I’m going to resist adding sling swivel mounts. I may relieve the stock to add a Lyman receiver sight, if I can find one for less than the cost of the rifle.

Answered my own question by scanning vintage ads for sale on EBay. Schnabel stock with side release is the later version.
