    1907 Pistol Front Sight help

I've acquired a decent 1907 pistol, with the exception of the missing front sight. Since they remained staked into the slide on every other one I've seen, they aren't at all easy to find as spares. Anyone know a source? Tried Savage with no luck (not surprising - it's not exactly current). Anyone know who might have one?

Or alternatively, can anyone measure the height of the sight over the slide and the length of the blade? If I'm going to make one and stake it in myself, I'd like it to be as correct as I can manage.

    Thank you

    Kevin

Just looking at photos the front sight appears to be about the same height as the hammer height from the frame\slide. Just a SWAG but you could make it just a bit higher...see how it shoots and if needed, carefully file down the front sight if you need to bring up POI. That's how I "sighted in" my flintlock rifle build.

If you do this, and need to file down the sight, be sure to use a few layers of Duct tape (or heavy tape) on the front so that your file won't hit the frame and marr it.
