    single shot receivers...bolt replacemnt ?


    has anyone with a single shot replaced the factory bolt with an after market bolt ?

    ptg has some new bolts out and mine rattles big time.

    anybody ??
    ( i took a 6br in an hs precision stock and am moving up to 308 win)

    You need to measure your bolt bore "or" you need to ream it. Buy a bolt body.015"- .002" under sized from the bore. I never liked bolt slop but at the same time i have not been able to attribute inaccuracy to a sloppy savage bolt. The target actions are normally a good fit.


    Hopefully Savage machined the axis of the bolt bore with the axis of the barrel tenon.
    The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.

    i like the bolt head design think it eliminates the bolt body at firing.
    BUT
    FEEDING is another issue...this body just rattles around..actually catches on the safety on the way in
