Savage Bass Pro “new” 110 Tactical

Picked up a Savage 110 Tactical from Bass Pro. In comparison to the tactical offered from other dealers they are not the same.
Savage 110 Tactical Bolt-Action Centerfire Rifle
The Savage 110 Tactical Bolt-Action Centerfire Rifle is specifically designed for tactical, long-range shooting. A Savage blueprinted 110 action sits in a monolithic aluminum chassis, machined from a solid billet. This bolt-action rifle comes equipped with the iconic, user adjustable Savage AccuTrigger for a crisp, custom trigger pull. The AccuFit system allows you to make quick length of pull and comb height adjustments, while the synthetic, 3D-secured AccuStock boasts a soft grip forend and pistol grip, offering a custom fit and function, as well as improved ergonomics. Boasting a 1:10 twist ratio and carbon steel construction, the heavy contour, fluted barrel is button-rifled and has an 11-degree crown for improved accuracy, and is threaded (1/2 x 28" thread pitch) for suppressors and other muzzle devices. A 1-piece 20 MOA EGW rail readily accommodates a variety of scopes. The oversized bolt handle offers rapid, intuitive manipulation, and a 3-position safety allows the chamber to be loaded and unloaded with the safety engaged. The Savage 110 Tactical features a detachable 10-round Magpul AICS magazine for maximum firepower.

Soft grip forend and pistol grip
    Threaded heavy barrel
    1-piece 20 MOA EGW rail
    3-position safety
    Oversized bolt handle

I would like to find some 5 round mags for it. Put a few rounds through it this evening and I’m happy with it.

They aren't the same because Bass Pro/Cabelas orders "Exclusive" models of firearms from many different manufacturer's. They spec the gun's,and then the maker produces them for the store brand.
Years ago,I bought a 10 FCP from Cabelas. The Savage 10 FCP had a H&S Precision stock, the Cabelas version came with a Choate Tactical stock and was priced a couple $$$ cheaper than the Savage factory model of the same gun.

I like it. I like fluted barrels although I would like to see Bass Pro offer different colors (FDE). As in the way they spec’d it I’m good with it.

The specs you listed (copy/cut/paste?) make no sense.

    Monolithic aluminum chassi
    s
    Synthetic AccuStock for maximum versatility

    Pick one...can't be both...

ALL that info they list is just a generic "press release". When have you ever herd of ANY 6.5 CM or 6.5 PRC with a 1-10 twist ? OR with a 1/2 x 28 thread on the muzzle ?
It wasn't to long ago these "made for Bass Pro" rifles were advertised as SR, as in Suppresser Ready and having 5-R riflings, now they have fluted bbl's.
The S R just meant the muzzle was threaded 5/8 x 24. But telling "Joe Binotz" it's "can" ready makes for a better selling point.

Call me stupid, but what exactly is "not the same" on the BPS model compared to the standard one listed on Savage's website?

    Heavy fluted barrel - check
    Threaded muzzle - check
    AccuFit stock - check
AICS bottom metal and magazine - check
    EGW scope rail - check
    Oversize bolt handle - check

    So what's different?

I didn’t compare the models. Actually didn’t think to go to Savage website. I just remember what I saw, as in specs on the other tactical. Thanks for posting.

Edited to say: same MSRP the only difference I see is the colors and the NEW tactical has a fluted barrel whereas the Desert doesn’t.

While we are on the 110 tactical, will this Bolt lift work on it? I’ve read the other articles on the Bolt lift kits but curious if this one would work.

I just hit up my nearest Cabelas for a 110 Tactical in 6.5 PRC. Accufit stock (Accustock). Fluted barrel, threaded for 5/8. Magazine is a 300 WSM metal mag from Accurate-mag (same company that makes the mags for the 110 BA in 338 LM). After this winter storm moves out, I'll get it to the range and see how it performs.

If the bolt has the pin protruding from the rear of the BAS to indicate a chambered cartridge, then no the bolt lift kit will not work.
Banning a gun will not solve what is a mental health crisis inflamed by incendiary rhetoric on social and television media. The first amendment in this case is less precious and more likely the causal factor than the second amendment.

and is threaded (1/2 x 28" thread pitch)
Bass Pro Shop lists theirs at 1/2x28.

    Mine is 5/8x24!

Big difference. So which is it?

Ok, thanks. I’ve read a little on the kits for the 110 and was trying to get more information. I appreciate it.

I’ve emailed their CS, 3 days ago with no response. Hard to call them with my job schedule.

Just unscrew the thread protector and measure the diameter.

Is there anything that can help with “smoothing” the Bolt?
