    ...25-06 & RL-19...

...Yes, I now joined the club...lol..Picked up a Brand-X from a buddy at work..Nice shinny stock, bedded, lugs lapped with a Shilen 26" sporter bbl. on it...He said it was a shooter...He gave me some of his reloads with H4831 & 100gr soft points...Tryed a few out just to see & found the scope way off...Got it zeroed & fired off 3 for a group...2 touching & 1 a 1/4" off the other 2...Thought well it looks like it has potential..Just need to clean it & go to work..lol..Dropped by the old gun shop & picked up my favorite bullets.. Nosler 100gr BT's, RL-19 & 210M prs...Nosler list's RL as the most accurate..So I figured I'ld start there..52.5grs to get things started...Ended at 53.1grs with hole accuracy...I almost fell over..Didn't really expect that 1...I'ld post a pic. but you would'nt believe it..I almost didn't..I kept looking for that 3rd shot in the scope...Finally walked down to take a look at the target...I'm not apt to miss my old pie plate... ...& I dought the bullet exploded.. :)...Anyway I'm a very happy camper..Going to try it out on the old whitetails this weekend...I have a feeling it's going to hit them like a bolt of lighting... ;D...

Welcome aboard the 257 wagon, now send it to me n I'll punch it out for you. Gain you another 200fps and keep your brass from stretching.

and its cool when a guy at the range asks you what you are shooting and you can answer

"25-06...Ackley Improved" it lets them know that you are not a tourist.

All i got to say to 1Shot and Outlaw is: Damn the both of you!! ;D My dang wallet can not really afford to hear about all this 25cal. madness.

A couple years ago I taught a friend of mine to reload. His father & law has a 2506, and he of course started reloading for it. Earlier this year he bought a 2506 marlin and has been reloading for it. He is an avid hunter, and he has the 25, a 270, and a 338 winmag. This season he bagged a dear with the 2506 using a barnes ttsx. Not sure which one it was right offhand.

Ok, so I have 24lbs of ADI 2217 (H1000). Got a kick ass deal on the powder. I had originally ordered 32lbs, and my friend bought 8 off me. He says that 2506 seems to like the powder pretty well. My question is, If i have my savage 111 re-barreled to 2506AI how well is my ADI2217 likely to work for me? I am thinking about the 115VLD and the Hornady 117 btsp bullets.

    Have a good one,
    Gary

I have been using a 25.06 for antelope for 3 years now. However I use IMR4350 with a Barnes 100gr TSX. It hits them hard. Longest shot was 364 yds and she went down lights out. It is a great caliber. I just put down the biggest buck for me a month ago. The furtherest any one went after being hit was 6 steps.

    Goodluck with your new caliber.

As per the advice given to me by Outlawkyote:

"There are only 3 powders that you need for 25-06. RL-22,RL-22 and RL-22."

and if you get in a pinch you can substitute RL-22

IMR 4350 is a great powder for the 25-06 in my two 25-06 rifles.
