Modifying factory 12FV stock for detatchable mag.

In theory is doable? Using the outline molded into the stock and removing the plastic and installing factory bottom metal? And yes I know replacing the flimsy stock is the best option. it's an interim solution.

    Thanks.

Do you have a vertical mill?

That would make the 12FV stock weaker and more flimsy. An easier/better solution would be buy a take-off Savage Tactical Accufit-Accustock currently listed on Ebay. It will already have the top bolt release cut-out, varmint barrel channel and stock adjustment inserts. Replace the 12FV recoil lug with an Accustock recoil lug and you have a drop in fit for a 12FV barreled action. The standard Savage bottom metal will also work in place of the pricey Savage AICS magazine assembly.
