Same principal but not as easy. As I recall the threads are different and the taper is certainly different because of the front barrel band.
Unless the rifle has significant emotional value I'd certainly pass on re-barreling. It's a gunsmith only job.
It's been 30yrs since I did one but seem to recall I had to buy a #3 sporter blank and still taper it a bit more as it was between a 2 and 3 taper.
even with a inexpensive blank it's likely a 350 dollar job... Rifle is probably worth 200... and when you finish with it, it's still gonna be a 200-250 buck rifle
