    rebarrel Savage 340

Has anyone re-barreled a 340 hornet? Since it has a nut I was wanting to know if it is as easy as a 110 action to rebarrel. I saw one on another forum , but I think it was done by someone that had his on lathe, in 17 Ackley Hornet and it looked nice. Thanks for any replies.

Same principal but not as easy. As I recall the threads are different and the taper is certainly different because of the front barrel band.

Unless the rifle has significant emotional value I'd certainly pass on re-barreling. It's a gunsmith only job.

It's been 30yrs since I did one but seem to recall I had to buy a #3 sporter blank and still taper it a bit more as it was between a 2 and 3 taper.

even with a inexpensive blank it's likely a 350 dollar job... Rifle is probably worth 200... and when you finish with it, it's still gonna be a 200-250 buck rifle
