    Name change??

So, the big push is to change the name of the Washington Red Skins to??
Then, when can we expect Savage to change their name and get rid of the Indian Head logo??

Well since D.C. is 90% lefties, my recommendation would be to change the name to the Washington Hypocrites and their new logo would fittingly be a jackass.

The sad thing for me is that I have, and still do, view the use of “Redskins” for competitive sports team as a sign of respect for a group of people who have amply demonstrated a tough, competitive spirit.

Removing names like this one is another step toward forgetting that Native Americans ever existed.

Arthur Savage was actually the founder's name.

The Native American image is licensed:

In 1919, Arthur Savage was approached by Chief Lame Deer to buy rifles for his tribe in New York. Lame Deer offered to allow Savage to use his image as its logo in exchange for discounted rifles and an annual fee. As of 2020, Savage Arms was still paying the annual fee.
But I guess in light of correctness and historical cancelling:

And what about college ball ?? Take the Florida Seminoles for example !!

This is all getting out of hand. I think "Knee Jerking" is going to pass Covid
as the number one reason to see your doctor. Lets look at Cleveland. The
Cleveland Indians have been pushed to change also. As for Savage ?? Every
race had their issues. Quite a bit of it was happening in Africa. Matter of
fact, still going on. So how about the Washington Zulu's. Maybe have a head
    hunter logo !!

Was reading an article on Fox News yesterday and one thing they mentioned in the article was that several years ago when the left first started putting pressure on the Redskins to change their name they surveyed a bunch of native Americans on whether or not they think the name should be changed. Around 90% of them said no. It's not the native american's pushing this issue, it's the white social justice warriors that are doing it.

I've always viewed it like JASmith said, using the name and imagery pays homage to the native Americans and keeps the memory of their history fresh in our minds. It reminds us of their culture and their heritage. It reminds us of how so many times they were treated unfairly by the government. It should also remind all of use what our government is capable of doing to classes of people that aren't it's preferred class of people, because the way things have been going the next class to be persecuted against by the government will very likely be religious white folks.

When the Cleveland Indians dumped the Chief Wahoo as their official mascot a few years back I didn't agree, but I also recognize that specific caricature could be offensive due to it being drawn with an overly large nose. This was a common derogatory caricature feature when depicting for native Americans for well over 100 years and can easily be seen in any cartoon depicting a native american from the last century.

In the case of the Redskins though, the caricature used isn't derogatory in any way, it's simply a life-like side profile of a native american brave. We can debate whether the term redskin is derogatory or offensive, but as the above mentioned survey pointed out if the vast majority of native Americans don't consider it offensive what's the problem? Pushing this issue could just as easily be viewed as the white man once again trying to force his will upon the native Americans.

In my school district they changed the name from Talawanda Braves to the Talawanda Brave. But the die hards are keeping it the same.
The university near me was Miami Redskins, now it’s Miami Redhawks. A friend of ours was the Redskin who rode in on a horse at the Football games was very impressive to see Him carrying the school flag.
When you have college people in your area it can be bad.
A school in Cincinnati the school board just passed having their name changed that was the Redskins. Now they don’t have a new name yet, but this is costly to change the name on everything.

When I went to high school our team name/mascot was the "Indians". That changed to the "Patriots" when there was a redistricting.

Now I wonder if that will last?

My university was the "Colonials" and that became the "Bearcats"; though the first mascot was "Harpo the Mexican Burro". ;-)

I think they should keep the name Redskins and just change the logo.

    In case you didn't know,

The Redskins logo was designed by the former leader of the Blackfeet Indian tribe, Walter "Blackie" Wetzel.

He once said, "It made us proud to have an Indian on a big-time team."
