Model 10 hunter pred mossy oak 22 250 accuracy issues

    Hi all.
New here. I have a model 10 HP in 22 250 top bolt release. I can t get much better than .8 moa.
Using precise reloads 50 vmax varget , lapua. Fed br. Primers.
The Fore end is little flexy.but free floated.
I also have the newer model ,bottom release black barrel shoots .10 .20 all day.
Any one have experience with that model. Am I chasing the wind?

I would think it would do better.. what twist? My 22-250 is 1/12 and drives tacks with 55gr /38 gr h380 and 37.6 of h380 for 62gr penetrators

    It is a 12 twist. I started with 55 g , 53, 52, 50 was the better of them .
I really thought this would b a great shooter, perhaps it is , I just need to dig deeper.

Should be.. 22-250 is a fast and flat round.. it could also be it just needs a few bricks of ammo shot down the tube before it settles

Is it bedded in the stock? Does the barrel contact the stock?

It's pillar bedded. No barrel contact I removed a little material to make sure. Check with a dollar bill when it was on the sand bag.

Have you torque tuned the rear action screw? Set front screw at 40 to 45 in lbs, rear to 15 and slowly raise torque shooting 3 shot groups. You'll probably see great improvement between 20 and 25 in lbs. Mark the screw head and pillar as they tend to loosen with use. Then rework your load.
Banning a gun will not solve what is a mental health crisis inflamed by incendiary rhetoric on social and television media. The first amendment in this case is less precious and more likely the causal factor than the second amendment.

    Yea lighter bullets.
Bed that front recoil lug. With JB weld

There needs to be a lot of room between stock and barrel. More like credit card width.
    Cheers

If you have fired it much, have you also cleaned the copper out of it recently? My model 12 used to build up copper fast and needed to be cleaned well every 50-100 rounds. I also used some Iosso bore paste on it to smooth it a little (don't use it too much).

    Ok So to update.
I read a sticky here re the Carlson Bell stock fit, it showed taking out material around the pillars and stock inside the receiver area. Mine had what looked like excess material so I did the same.
Torqued 40 and 25 increased on 2nd group by 5
Wipe out to clean the barrel.

    2 -5 shot groups . .6 and .3

All good ... thanks much savage shooters.
    Hope this helps someone else.
