    New here, bought a Savage

I joined because I just got a Savage 10T-SR in .223. Short action, 24" threaded barrel and Accustock. If you guys have any recommendations to get the most out of it I'm all ears. I'm impressed with the rigidity of the stock and can't find many worthy upgrades. It's wearing a Bushnell Engage 2.5-10x44, but I just go to the range so I'm wanting more magnification.

I also can't decide between a bipod or bags.

Bed the front of the action and recoil lug.
Make sure barrel is away from the stock.
Work on the trigger group. I like to polish with tooth paste. Lighter spring. Heavy spring screw. Shim trigger to remove slop.
Break the barrel in or scrub it with a brush and light compound like tooth paste. Get a scope level.
Get you 1000rdns of blackhills mk262 clones

Start getting some numbers on paper. Write them down so you know your hold overs or dial on the scope for different yardages.

Your going to have a blast. That is a nice rifle. Cheers

Just find a load it likes and shoot the crap out of it I personally like the Atlas CAL bipod, but they are not cheap...so just start with some bags. Not sure if they have the lighter, "brown" trigger spring already installed. Get one if it does not....

Thanks guys, I might take it to the range tomorrow. It finally opened back up (state owned). I'll zero it at 25, then 50, then try my best at 100. 10x isn't enough to see the holes probably. Might take a few trips downrange.
