    Oryx Chassis vs Boyds Stock

Couple years ago I built a 223 Axis 11 with a CBI stainless barrel and Boyds Stock. The gun shoots 1/4 moa groups but has begain to open up a bit. I am still happy with how it shoots but I seem to have caught a bad case of rebuild fever.
I have ordered a new barrel and a Oryx Chassis system.
Has anyone ever compared the difference in accuracy between the Oryx and the Boyds?

Did you pillar and bed the Boyd's stock? It's something they definitely need. Overall though, you should see an improvement going to a chassis.

Yes I did. This is one of the fixed Boyd's stock. I had it made to fit me so far as lop. But had to add a padded check riser to get scope picture where I needed it. I also reworked the channel to get more barrel clearence. Problem as I see it is not with the stock to action fit but stock to shooter fit. Going from bench to prone shows up in not so much in group size but accuracy. I measure what I call accuracy MOA be center of bullet hole to point of aim. I just did today 10 3 shot groups with the Boyd shooting prone I am going to measure these vs 10 3 shot groups with the Oryx Chassis using the same barrel and action and 30 rounds from the same group of reloads. As soon as the Chassis arrives. I'll report on what I find.

I Have shot 20 3 shot groups with the boyds stock. Largest 1.14 smallest .190 average .590 With the Oryx I shot 10 3 shot groups largest .820 smallest .240 average .465 I shot one 5 shot group at .300 at end of the shoot.
I am going to shoot 10 more groups when I get the rear bag worked out.
My buddy, who is 100 years younger than I am shot a 5 shot group with the Oryx at .238 Only time he ever fired it. I know that it will shoot.

Never compared them, but love the 2 Oryx chassis that I have. The actions solidly bed into them and they seem very consistent. Highly recommended...

    The link does work.

You may be able to find a different link on that page that lets you post (embed) it as a photo rather than a link.

It may be called "BBCode" for message boards and forums.

Since your stated problem is stock fit then go to 10 round groups. That's where a shooter's consistency shows up more.
