    Axis/Edge Firing Pin Spring???

    Hello!

I'm restoring a Savage Edge 243 Win. I discovered it is the same as the "Axis" and on this site today I learned that the old one piece firing pin spring was at one point modified to a 2 spring system. It seems that no matter where I look, I am unable to find the spring. Do any of you know where I can purchase a replacement? Thank you! Nezter

Do you actually have the original spring, or are you just looking for a the updated version?

I do have the original and yes, I'm looking for the updated version. The original is defective.

I ended up having a gunsmith call and order the 3 piece spring from Savage.

I did the same as Savage won't sell you the spring. Mine started to act up so I had to replace it. Best to store the Axis uncocked so the spring doesn't take a set.

Would that be with the bolt open?

They won't take a set, and besides it's still compressed when de-cocked.

I tried to do a search on Ebay and came up empty handed.

Could give us a link...or PM me a link?

I bought a couple of the Axis bolt lift kits. The instructional video was with the one piece spring. So I "wing'd it" with a 2piece spring. He never mention the bearing set would not fit inside rear nut that holds the bolt together. At any rate I cut the back spring, well you need to cut the front spring. Which I really didn't want to do because the bearing is exposed. So now I need a rear firing pin spring.
