I don't see an issue with the receiver being too thin, my MKI and MkII are factory drilled and tapped and IIRC the receivers are the same(other then the dovetail cut) but someone here should know for sure.Originally Posted by Medic_01

All,
i've got a savage MKII in .22 and i have an EGW rail that i'm wanting to fit.
The existing action is dovetailed, and there is no tapped holes in the reciever.
i have taken this to a gun shop to ask to be fitted but apart from their store rules (do tapping .22's) the store owner said that the reviever "looks a little thin" and it might not go on properly.
has anyone here fitted an EGW rail to a dovetailed MK II ??
cheers

only thing i can think is that if it is drilled and tapped from the factory, the reciever isn't too thin. unless of course the dovetail has something to do with it, but there should be enough "meat" between the grooves to tap it.
