Repurpose .338 Lapua Action to .300 Win MAg

Can I re-purpose a Savage model 110 .338 Lapua Action to shoot .300 Win Mag (or .300 PRC), by just swapping the bolt head and barrel ? ...how about magazine ?

honestly the best option is to sell what you have and buy a 300 win mag. Less problems that way. Less mag problems, less potential feeding issues.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.

Anything can be done if you throw enough money at it but, Robinhood is right, sell the Lapua and buy a 300 Mag. You shouldn't have any problem selling the Lapua.

There shouldn't be feeding issues if you switch to the AIC magazine with the proper feed lips. The advantage to using that vs a standard action for 300 win mag is you will have a longer magazine and be able to seat the bullets further out. Swap for a 110 BA 300 win mag bolt head if you can so you don't have to adjust firing pin protrusion. That, a barrel, and magazine and you should be fine. No more difficult that other swaps that have been done.

I did pretty much exactly what you are asking about - I took my original 110 BA and put it in an HS stock with a 25" Krieger heavy Palma 300WM barrel.

Initially I thought that it would be a simple and straightforward swap, like going from 308 to 223. Not *quite*...

The good news is that as far as feeding, all you need to do is change mags. Make sure you get the CIP length (3.850") AICS mags. With those, you can load the 300WM or PRC *long*.

The bad news is that the bolt head swap is a bit of a PITA, at least if you have any interest in keeping it as a switch barrel. The bolt head is different, both in the opening and in the thickness. As a result, you would have to change the FP protrusion every time you swap. Not a huge deal if you only want to do it once, but not so cool if you want to change back and forth (I thought I did).

I ended up just getting a second bolt put together, and that way I can go between either 300WM, or anything on a 532 bolt face, and a 338LM or anything on the 588 bolt face.
