To make a long story short, we used to have, well loaned to us, a Remington model 600 chambered in 6mm Remington. For the short time we had it, I absolutely loved the round and my son had taken his first 2 deer with it. Since we had to return it to the owner, I have been tossing around the idea of picking up a Savage 11 in a 243Win and rebarrel it to 6mm Remington.

I know both cartridges would use the same bolt face but my concern is the length of cartridge and the short action of the model 11. From what I can figure is the 6mm Rem is still considered a short action round but probably the longest of the short action. Box mags I know are also another concern but will look into that more, or pop the mag out of the 243 and measure it with a tape.

Would anyone know if this round will work in the action?

Side note: Ammo is not a concern, already have all the brass and dies.
