    Savage bolt baffle ?

Built a 6mm Dasher on a older (2001) 12 LRVP . Bought a new bolt assembly and had the firing pin bushed. The new bolt baffle doesn't have the long"tail" that the original bolt had....does the long extension or tail have any purpose? Figured maybe it helped make bolt travel smoother? I will swap it out if it is needed. Thanks for any help...rsbhunter

That long tail reduces the stroke for magazines that are blocked for shorter cartridges. Depending on what magazine you are using determines if you need it. Even if you do have a factory 6BR magazine you can live with the longer stroke of your bolt without issue.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.

It's a target action, single shot, so I guess it doesn't matter...I really appreciate the info...rsbhunter
