    Questions on Barrel Shank Size?

I have 3 different Rifles and wondered if there is a way to check shank size without barrel removal?

    1. model 110 FP s/n F3672xx Heavy barrel Like a tactical non Accutrigger 308 Long action
    2. model 10 S/N F9243xx Heavy tactical barrel 308 Short action non Accutrigger
    3. model 12 s/n G1325xx Heavy tactical barrel 223 short action with accutrigger

I need a short action large shank that I can put a Savage 6.5cm heavy fluted barrel from a savage precision rifle. Also, can non accutrigger actions be fitted with accutriggers? Thank you!

Check the length of the nut... small shank nuts are noticeably longer.

All of those should be standard shank. The target action is large shank and 338 Lapua.

I believe the small shank is 7/8" long and the large is 5/8" long, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Any gunsmith can do it, but with a factory barrel the cost to do it may not be worth it.

It is a tactical fluted 5 r barrel so I figured it might be worth it.

Sell the barrel and buy one that fits
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.

I agree with robin, I’d sell the barrel and buy one to fit. Northland shooters supply has several calibers and contours in stock for savage prefits. They’re also great people to deal with and offer precision ground lugs and barrel nuts.

As others have mentioned look at the barrel nut length. Also, don’t know when it started but factory large shank barrels will have the step down in the barrel contour shortly after the barrel nut.
