    savage model 29


    I'm trying to fine the date of manufacture on my Dad's model 29 22 s l lr sn1641. grateful for any help. I'm thinking early 1920's

    Richard, the Model 29 was introduced in 1929 and serial numbers started at 1000, so yours was made sometime in 1929. I have record of one in the low 6000's the lettered from Sept 1929. This was before the introduction of Hi-Speed 22 ammunition so shoot only standard velocity or lighter loads in it. They later made some changes to the action for the then new Hi-Speed but I still consider this action of marginal strength for it.
