I thought I would share my findings from a recent search for a 99A Forend.

This is a resurrection rebuild in .243. It started with a barrel, followed by a mostly complete receiver. I wanted a basket case to do a non-traditional build (shortened laminated stock, bolt-on cheek riser, Picatinny rail, etc). I picked up a laminated butt stock from Boyds at a major discount. I wanted a laminated forend, but Boyd's only offers a take down and a spring clip forend (???), and no schnable. In any case, the dimensions that they provide indicated that I would have to do some major fitting work.

Gunstocks, Inc. offers a wide range of 99 options in walnut, and they'll do customs in a selection of laminated colors. I submitted my request for quote, and Ed responded quickly to say that they only do laminates in sets. After a few exchanges, he finally explained that the blanks are sized for a butt stock and forend. They don't have any forend sized blanks.

MPI Custom Stocks does expensive fiberglass stocks, and their website lists 99s. However, they don't respond to emails.

I'm building my own.
