First year for factory drilled receivers?

Hi- I have a 99F that came to me with a Sears "Ted Williams" 4X scope mounted with Weaver bases and rings. SN 7824XX and lever boss stamped 17I. Could it be factory drilled?

    TIA, Rick

The 99F was introduced in 1955 and was D&T'd. Looks like yours was made in 1957.
The earliest they started to D&T at the factory was 1950.
