About a year ago, I picked up a Howa barreled action in .223 for my daughter (20" heavy profile). Since she was 11 at the time, I had it bedded in a Boyd's At-One adjustable stock. This thing has been lights out since day one. This group measures .202"(though Shoot N See targets are tough to measure) and was the first 3 shots from this range session. She shot several more groups, all under 1/2".
Right now, I've only shot Hornady factory loads.....55gr SP and 55gr V-Max.
I have always thought those bare Howa actions were a great deal. I have 2 myself and love them.
I noticed these on the Brownell's site a few months ago and they look like a nice alternative to factory Savage and Remington rifles. McGowen offers Howa threaded replacement barrels and Howage barrel nuts on their site.
