I am in possession of a Savage Super Sporter Mod 40 in 30.06 cal with ser no 15XXX. Any information regarding this fine weapon would be greatly appreciated. It has been in the family many, many years and is in original condition. This Savage was originally purchased by my grandfather back when - I never knew him as he passed prior to my birth in 1946. I suspect that the gun is from the mid 30’s possibly?
