    Need Help

Need help finding a cocking piece pin for a 110e. I was working on a barrel swap project some time back and disassembled the bolt to remove the firing pin while I was checking headspace. Now I can't seem to find the cocking piece pin. I have looked online for a replacement and they're just not there. I would like to get back on this project but without the pin I'm dead in the water.

Call Savage Customer Service. They'er quickest and cheapest source for parts.

The 110e uses the old style thin head cocking piece pin, something Savage hasn't stocked in years.

I called savage and this is a 1985 model. I was informed they only had parts back to 1995. Numrich, Brownells, all the other online stores are out of stock and have been for as long as I have been trying to get this thing back together. It's kind of crazy that this is such an important part of the gun but no one carries them. I guess I'll just have to put it back in the safe once again. Frustrating.

Will a newer model bolt work in the older action?

Can’t see any reason why not, assuming it is a complete bolt and you reset the headspace. More knowledgeable people on here may confirm or correct my post.

Only "Gotcha!" would be if it's a Gen 1 short action with the 4.52" screw spacing since he never mentioned what it's chambered in. You'd be hard pressed to find a bolt assembly or bolt parts for that action length these days considering they stopped making them in 1988.

Yes Sharpshooter, it is. Only there are two different ones. The one I need will be the shortest of the two for bolts that aren't recessed.
    The rifle is a 1985 110e 30-06 that I am rebarreling to a .270.

If you all only knew the trials and tribulations Fred had to go through to get that photo to post up. Fred + first smart phone + new computer with Windows 10 = 5th of Captain Morgan
