    My New 6.5CM M10 Build

I finished my new 6.5 build a few weeks ago and have now put almost 50 rounds downrange with it. It has a Mod 10 detachable mag action, Criterion SS varmint 26" barrel, Boyd's pro varmint stock, new ground lug and lock ring, and a Hawkeye adjustable cheek rest. I pillar bedded it with steel pillars that I made on my lathe and glass bedded it. The scope base is the 20 MOA that was on the factory donor action. I mounted a SWFA 16X42 scope with low steel rings.
I started with Hornady 140 OTM, 41.5 gn H4350, CCI 200, Hornady brass, .020" jump, and 2.840 COAL. Took 3 shots to zero and foul at 100 yds. I cleaned the barrel and shot four 3 round groups,.878, .695, .589, .468. Looks like it is settling on down. Then I went home and cleaned the barrel. A few days later I shot a ladder of Hornady 140 OTM, H4350, 40.9gn, 41.1gn, 41.3gn, 41.5gn, and 41.7gn 5 shot groups. The best group was the 41.5gn at .470".
Took the rifle home and cleaned it and loaded 50 rounds of 140 OTM with 41.5 grains of H4350.I'm hoping that my new toy will continue to tighten up as I run more rounds through it. If it looks like it warrants it, I will be looking for a better scope.
One of the best things about a new barrel to me is that it is easy to get a good base to lands reading. As the throat wears, it seems to me that it is a lot harder to get a consistent measurement. May just be me.
Didn't intend to write this to bore anyone, but what else does an old man do with his time? It's great to be retired and have the time for my hobby and family, especially the grandkids. Life is good an the weather is cooling.

Its fun when a new build comes together.
Sounds like yours is going to be a shooter for sure.
Have fun with the grand kids, nothing like that too!
