Hi folks, new to the forum and Savage rifles.
I probably have a switch barrel hunting rifle to build in the future, but my immediate interest is the 99F in 300 Savage.

I bought one earlier this year, and noticed that the buckhorn sight was drifted quite far to the left on the barrel. Before shooting it I installed a Marbles tang sight, and at 50 yards I am 6 or 7 inches off to the right, with the sight windage bottomed out! I didn't shoot enough to try for a group, but I love the feel of the old rifle and want to hunt with it- if I can fix this problem.

Has anyone seen this problem before? I've never had a rifle that couldn't zero.

I am going to find my straightedge and see if I can measure a bend in the barrel.

Other potential culprits?
1. Damaged crown
2. Uneven stock pressure on the thin barrel
3. Just plain wore out old rifle
4.???

Thanks for reading
