I am building a "switch" barrel setup using an Axis II receiver with appropriate barrels for .257 Roberts, 6.5 CM, 6.5X55 Swede, .308/7.62X51 and 8X57 Mauser. Is there any reason I cannot push all of these through an Axis II receiver with appropriate magazine? I will also be switching to a 10 rnd mag from Dark Eagle Custom. I see no reason why not but am not familiar with Savage products...being a Mauser man for years.
Axis receiver is long action only. Change of magazine and trigger guard are all that is required to go from long to short action. Took the advice of a member recently and went from a "short action" to long action. All I had to do was order the long action trigger guard and magazine. However, this only works for factory stocks on the Axis.
